Sergeant First Class Jared B. Reesor (Retired)
A native of south Mississippi, SFC(R) Reesor began his military career as an Army Artilleryman in 1990. He went to Special Forces Selection in 1998, earning his Green Beret in 2000. He spent over 25 years in the military, 17 years as a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant (18C) on combat dive teams in both 5th and 3rd Special Forces Groups. Additionally, he served 3 years as an instructor with 1st Special Warfare Training Group. During his military service he received his Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Jumpmaster, Special Operations Dive Supervisor Badge, and 4 Bronze Stars (one with Valor Device) and a host of other accommodations and awards. SFC(R) Reesor has had multiple combat tours over his tenure with Special Forces and retired in 2016.
On March 27, 2018, SFC(R) Reesor was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal cancer. Consequently, the same CT that was used to search for further disease identified a 6+cm ascending aortic aneurysm. The decision was made to continue with cancer treatment first. Jared had radiation, an ileostomy, a colectomy, and 12 rounds of FOLFOX. Roughly a year later, and 4 weeks after his last dose of chemo, he had an open-heart procedure to repair his aorta. Jared had a metastatic lesion in his liver in December of 2020 and underwent additional surgery and chemotherapy. He has been “No Evidence of Disease” since this occurrence.
In his retired life he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, hunting, and of course, making knives (Reesor Custom Knives, LLC).
