Ben Tabberer
Ben Tabberer is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Master Sergeant (MSG) who honorably served for 26 years. During the height of the Global War on Terrorism, he deployed extensively, accumulating more than four years in combat zones.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Ben developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors through hunting and fishing with his father. Those experiences instilled resilience, purpose, and a deep connection to nature—values that have continued to guide him throughout his military service and into civilian life.
Today, Ben leads the Team Room 2 Timber initiative as a full-time volunteer. Drawing on his military experience and passion for the outdoors, he is dedicated to helping veterans navigate the challenges of military retirement and the transition to civilian life. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork, shared purpose, and meaningful connection, while creating outdoor experiences. These experiences rekindle the sense of challenge, camaraderie, and accomplishment sought by many veterans during their prior service.
T2T LEAD
Tommy McCutchen
Thomas grew up on his family farm near Wynne in Cross County, Arkansas. The land shaped him through sports, fishing, and especially duck hunting the L’Angullie river bottoms in the club his great-grandfather helped establish in 1943. As a third-generation member, those predawn traditions in the blind formed the core of his character. After high school in 2001, he joined the Arkansas National Guard, trained, attended Arkansas State University, and deployed in 2003 with the 39th Infantry Brigade. As a battalion sniper team leader in Baghdad, Thomas led his team on over 100 missions, work that demanded precision, courage under fire, and unbreakable trust. The experience forged deep bonds of brotherhood and a lasting sense of purpose.
Returning home in 2005, he served as an active-duty recruiter while continuing to support veterans through non-profits. He built networks and began taking fellow veterans duck hunting in the same bottoms that had always grounded him, creating space for healing through shared silence and honest conversation. This path culminated in helping form Team Room 2 Timber—a meaningful bridge between military camaraderie and the restorative power of the land, completing a profound circle of legacy and service.
